    prevent Windows 10 pop ups

    I understand I can prevent Windows 10 pop ups by cancelling the Upgrade KB 5583 but first I need to
    cancel automatic updates and tick manual updates. Can someone please tell me where to find place to choose between automatic and manual updating on Windows 7

    Thanks

    Thanks. I have disabled automatic update replacing it with notify me before updating. I am very nervous of interfering with the registry but I have found the Windows Update entry under HKEY LOCAL MACHINE. It gives me the following
    entry ab Default REG_SZ value not set. Default is in a box.

    Exactly which part of the following do I enter in the Default box please ?
    "DisableOSUpgrade"=dword:00000001

    Sorry to trouble you again but heeding the dire warnings against meddling with the registry if you don`t know what you`re doing !

    Thank you. Does not answer my question as when I click on your link I get straight through to the untitled (sorry forgot to rename it) page I already mentioned via "Disable_Upgrade_to_Windows_10_update.reg (320 bytes) from tenforums.com - see attached file

    Hi,
    You should of used Option 1 here's bat file download to your Desktop and right click it and select Merge as the instructions state
    Upgrade to Windows 10 Update - Enable or Disable in Windows 7 or 8.1 - Windows 10 Forums

    After reviewing this
    Windows Update Settings - Change
    I would not be using Notify but I would be set with these settings
    prevent Windows 10 pop ups-update-settings.jpg

    You can use either of these too
