    Hi GRB,
The updates that are failing are really old, have you just re-installed or have you had this problem for a while.

No that was a fresh reinstall. After I followed the instructions and made that post, about an hour later I was shutting down and noticed it needed to updated, 163 files. When it restarted, it was configuring windows update for quite sometime and eventually failed and that message was there just sitting a bit. I had no choice but to reformat and reinstall. So now I don't know if I need to wait for a solution from my last post or redo the steps I did before? The same thing is happening.

    Thank you :)

    Hi GRB,
    Try to clear it using
SFC /scannow from an elevated command mode.

Were did you get your re-install media, it might be corrupt

Should I just run the scan or follow the steps to install the software before the scan?

I bought it at micro center when I had my PC built (3-4 yrs)

    Hi GRB,
READ THIS POST BEFORE YOU DO the scan

just run SFC for the moment.

Hold fire on another re-install, i have a question that may explain the failures.
If your system specs are correct (custom build), the licence you have should be, either
    OEM System Builder or
    Retail

If its not please run this tool, http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=52012
    copy/paste the results

    Hi GRB,
    OEM system builder, coool

Right looks like you've never registered it

    Run KB971033,
rerun that report and those file mismatches will be gone and so will the other errors.

Should be good to go after that.

I entered the key and it's activated, wouldn't that register it?

    Hi GRB,
    either way it doesn't matter.
You can still check by running the tool again.
