    Windows Updates won't install (again)

    Hi,

I really hate this. Once again there are Windows updates that won't install on my system. I clicked the install button, left my machine for 4 hours and when I returned is was still chugging at 0% of the install. The most annoying thing is that my machine will try to install them when I shut down and will never shut down.

How can I either resolve this or prevent my machine from trying to install at shut down?

    Many thanks.

    SJ.

    Hi Sean,
Did you ever get SP1 to install?
    You never came back!

please run this tool, copy/paste the output.

    Hi,

I ran this and just got pages of text that doesn't mean very much to me. Was there a specific part you need to know about?

    Thanks.

    Hi Sean,
For some reason Bitdefender, your AV, is appearing in that log, IT SHOULD NOT
I would like you to do the following
Turn OFF Device Updates, see screenshot
    Uninstall Bitdefender
    REBOOT
run this tool, from an elevated command mode
    https://www.sevenforums.com/attachmen...pdate_full.bat
    run the WindowsUpdate troubleshooter
    REBOOT

    Update.

    Windows Update Fix

    Hi Sean,

Usual Windows update fix includes resetting Winupdate components which includes renaming catroot2 and softwaredistro then clearing the cache, tempfiles. This usually works for Windows xp, vista and 7. You could try running these batch files in Admin, reboot and try the update.

    rencatroot2.bat

    resetwinupdate.bat
