Troubles with windows updates

Hi folks I would really appreciate some help here.
My computer running windows 7 stopped updating last week sometime.
I tried various things like resetting windows updates, running some fix it tools all to no avail.I ran another fix it toolo today and lo and behold windows foud updates again but it only installed a few and there is still 30 or so updates available but it won't install them.
I keep getting the error code 80073712.I have ran system file checker tool but the updates wont install and there seems to be some real problems goin on.I would really appreciate if someone could help me to get this sorted.
Thank you in advance.
