Well I def started out with genuine perhaps when I cloned the the old drive onto the new drive something went awry but I bought this laptop new at Best Buy in 2010. I did have to send it in to Asus one time when it was still in warranty and the say they put a new motherboard in it so maybe something happened there. Anyway I just went into windows update and it found two rather large updates over 250 mb which it is installing now. Problem seems to be fixed what do u suggest should I just wait and see what happens . I really appreciate your assist on this yours is the first advice that has actually worked

    Hi BigbobH
Yep changing the motherboard would certainly do that, BIT remiss of Asus not to address the Slic table issue.
As i said goto the Asus homepage for your model and update the Bios, (if there's one available).

I was pretty sure there was a reason for the missing slic, hence my comment
Your comp was shipped with W7.

    Happy surfing
