COEM (compliant original equipment manufacturer), produced outside OEM factories, but same specification and quality as OEM

Commercial Original Equipment Manufacturer

oem vs coem - Windows 7 - Tom's Hardware

OK so now you do want to download an iso file ?

You don`t have to download the COEM iso, the OEM is the same thing.

What version do you want, what language and what bit version ? I will post the direct Microsoft link, your key will not work to download the iso file, but you can try, let me know what happens. But be quick.

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64 bit ? What language ?

If your key works, that`s great.

When I said it would not work, I meant if you have a OEM key it would not work to download the iso file from Microsoft, but you must have a System Builders key, that`s why it downloaded the COEM iso, which is no different then the OEM Iso file.

The Microsoft site should only work with a Retail or a System Builders key, but some have reported that their OEM key has worked.

No, I did not have to enter a key to post the link for you, we know of ways around that.

A Retail license key can be used on any PC as long as it`s only activated on 1 PC at any given time.

A System Builders or OEM key is tied to the motherboard it is installed on and can not be transferred to another PC.

According to the End User License Agreement.

But of course there`s no one to enforce that rule

OEM License
A recent thread on Sevenforums got me thinking. Why does Microsoft say in their license terms that you can't use an OEM license for personal use, but they sell it through third parties (Amazon and Newegg) and they know that ordinary people are going to buy these OEM copies. If Windows Activation...

32-Bit License v.s. 64-Bit License
Hello. I have an XP computer that I'd like to put Windows 7 on, but it would have to be a 32-bit version. I would like to be able to scrap the computer and get a new one that would handle a 64-bit installation of Windows 7. I currently have a genuine copy of 64-bit for a different computer, which...

What happens to the OEM license?
My Vista came preinstalled. I've read every page on using the upgrade to do a clean install. I not only have to do some kind of install, I have to put in a new hard drive. Mine is on it's way out. I bought a WD 1TB black, to put it on. The system files are corrupt beyond repair. Believe me I've...

License
I have purchased volume OEM licenses for Win 7. I received a package which has a carboard outer sleeve with a barcode that isn't very clear on how many licenses are included. I have an idea of what it says but can anybody clarify? (1 Pk, 30 Pk) Thanks :sarc:

I have Win 7 installed on my desktop PC and Vista on my laptop. I'd like to dump Vista and install Win 7 on the laptop too. Questions: Can I use the same upgrade disk and/or activation number I used for the desktop? (I got a feeling the answer is "yes" to the disk, "no" to the activation...
