The procedure with WIndows Updates is to remove the Windows Update, using Restore point if necessary.

If Win7 won't start, boot into DVD Repair console and use Restore point.

Then if Update will not resintall correctly, open an email case with MS on windows Updates website. They are supported via email troubleshooting. Sometimes it can take weeks to resolve, but keep at it as they will persist too.
You could imagine that each time I start up, windows tries to apply this update. It fails, and the restore system is flooded with this failed update, this has been going on for 3 weeks :/. So no restore point :/.

Turn off Windows Updates for awhile, monitor overall performance, and then see if issue repeats when you turn it back on.

If so, I'd run a Repair Install

You can also open a case with MS which supports Updates via email from the WUD website.

They once walked me thruogh about a dozen possible fixes over an entire summer on a friend's computer, until it fixed - relentless.

Repair Install has solved the problem. I really wanted to avoid it mainly cause I was scared, but alas, the unavoidable is indeed unavoidable. Thanks man.

Never be scared of your computer.

Be informed and then be aggressive.

    Good work.
