    Windows Update Renders USB useless

I am not sure what to do. I have tried everything that comes to mind. Whenever I update my windows 7 64 bit my usb ports malfuntion. Every single one of them except my keyboard. I have to do a system restore to return my computer to its working state. I am honestly stumped by this. Any suggestions?

    EVGA 9800 GT
    4 gig of ram
    Windows Seven 64 bit

Go to control panel>hardware and sound>device manager>Universial Serial Bus Controllers>Right click the ones that are not working>properties>Drivers>roll back Drivers

    See if that works.

Same problem, usb mass storage or removable mass storage isn't recognize but i can't acess data on it ... without using "disk manager" and fix a new drive letter ... Automatic mapping drive letter doesn't work

I have ASUS P5KE WIFI/AP, Seven X64 updated, e6750, and my driver for chipset is ok (chipset intel P35).

I try to remove and reinstall driver for all my port USB, reboot, reinstall chipset, but this problem persist

Make sure you have the newest firmware on you motherboard and also check inside bios for any odd USB settings.

Ok, So there was one that wasn't working but the roll back driver wasn't clickable. The bios settings were normal. I have never really messed with a motherboards firmware and what not. How would I go about getting that going?

I see you have a MSI motherboard so you would have to goto their website and look up your motherboard. I also think they have an updater app that might help make it easier but you would have to read up on MSI website to make sure.

Okay, so I went to their website and downloaded the LiveUpdate 4 app and searched it and the only thing that came up was a dual core utility. So other than that I am still lost. I don't know what to do. It only happens when I download a windows update. I have automatic updating turned off so that I don't have to do a system restore every day.
