Some of us are curious to know exactly what happens when you upgrade the hardware of a machine with an OEM license. So, we are asking you, how did it go when you upgraded the motherboard?

Good question, Jon, since reports have come up here of exceptions being made by MS on Builder's OEM reactivation to different hardware, even different machines.

I had always heard that there are no exceptions given for at least a mobo changeout.

But Kari had two exceptions given for full hardware change on an OEM: In-place upgrade with retail / OEM / OSB / SB versions?

Others report similar. There is a growing (false?) confidence OEM can migrate.
