    Windows Update error 8024402F

    Hi All,

First post on here so please be easy on me :) I've receiving the above error when I try to retrieve updates thru Windows Update. I am able to connect to the website fine, and it will invoke the WU applet. This has been happening for about a month now, and I've been trying various things I could find (for both 7 and Vista). I have not installed the latest beta builds since I'm running this as my primary desktop OS at home (for testing, so far it's got me sold...tons better than Vista) and don't want to spend a day re-installing everything. Details of the PC:

    OS: Windows 7 64-bit build 7000
    CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x2 @ 2.7 GHz
    RAM: 4 GB DDR 2
    Chassis: Shuttle SN78SH7
    Chipset: nVidia nForce 8200
Video Card: nVidia GeForce 9800 GT (PCIx)
500 GB Seagate ST3500320AS SATA drive
LG Super-Multi SATA CD/DVD burner (don't know model # off the top of my head)
WEI: 5.9 (7.9 on graphics, everything else is 5.9)
    Windows is activated
Not sure if any other hardware/software is relevent...if it is please let me know. Also, this just randomly started happening, I have not been able to trace it back to any specific event/configuration change.

What I have done so far:
-Added both incoming and outgoing Windows Firewall exceptions for wuapp.exe
-Set both Windows Updates and Windows Defender services to Startup Automatic (removed delay)
-Disabled anti-virus (running AVG Free 8.0.238)
-Checked Windows CA certificates (seemed fine)
-Rebooted/shut down multiple times (this has really been the only reason I've had to reboot since getting all my 3rd party stuff installed)
    -Disabled Windows Firewall and Defender

I'm at wit's end here...I've tried everything I have been able to find so far with no change. Attached is the log from windowsupdate.log that details the last attempt I've made to run WU. From my reading of the log file, it looks like a file is failing a checksum/hash test...but I can't find the referenced file anywhere on my system. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help!

You can look over this for ideas:
You may encounter temporary connection-related errors when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates

Or your WU Agent may be corrupted:
    Updating Windows Update Agent (Windows)

Some have had sucess with deleting the data file in Windows/Software Distribution folder

Ok, tried some variations of the steps for both listed MS KB articles, but still unable to run Windows Update. Now, however, I'm receiving the error 80070003 and a different log parse...log is attached.

I am able to download the wuident.cab file referenced in the log fine, but reading the text file in there doesn't give me any other ideas....

    different ISP's

We have 2 ISP's and if I switch the internet works just fine so must be a WAN, LAN or a FireWall problem.
    bye...
