Hi Fizban,
I believe it will offer you the option to download various programs, including Windows Live Mail.
I already have WLM and the "download assistant".
This makes it more likely people will d/l those apps. , rather than having to go to a link to get them.
M$ probably think by making it optional., they will avoid trouble with monopoly commissions.
Hmm, I've received no such update in Windows Update and just checked in 7068 and I have it set for windows and other products from Microsoft updates. But, Windows Live Essentials isn't an integrated mail client per se, it's just Live mail along with whatever you want to install, i.e. WLM, etc. And you can get that either from the link in your start menu under Getting Started or by going to the website.
Hmm, curious, haven't downloaded any of the Windows Live programs previously on Windows 7. Just did now via the update and the Windows Messenger UI is far prettier than the old version of messenger I had used on Vista. Is the image below what the one you downloaded via the link looked like or did they revamp them in the past few days before adding this windows update?
