    Error Code 646

I recently installed MS Office 2007. After Windows called for about 20 updates. 11 of them refused to install. Windows reported an error code of 646. I installed them one by one manually perfectly fine. HOWEVER, Windows then called for ANOTHER 10 updates and those failed with an error code 646 again this time. It would appear that the failure code is only with MS Office updates. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. I've read a few threads in reference to this issue and Vista. They recommended turning off the firewall or UAC. Not sure if this applies to W7. BTW I am running W7 Home Edition.

I would uninstall 100% of your Office and try again.
Did you have an earlier version or free version installed before you installed 2007?
This may have been the issue.
So do a full uninstall and try again.

Here is a link to Microsoft if you have a problem uninstalling.

I have done a little searching and some had to turn off the UAC for the install.
The next idea is to manually update about 6 files manually.
Lets try turning off the UAC first.
