Windows 7 Feb2010 updates - now not booting

    Hi guys
    Have an issue

had to restart, now i can't boot into windows

repair screen pops up after trying to get into windows:

i have tried a system restore, no go
i have tried sfc scannow, but it moans that a system restore is preventing it

    im running out of ideas
i have a old recovery image, but i need/wish to save my current install

You are not alone. This has happened to some XP users and 7 users. Its the windows update KB977165 that was installed. I have the same problem and am trying to uninstall the update with the command prompt through system restore at bootup. I have system restore disabled so I cannot go back to old an version. Here's one ongoing discussion.

    Find following files:

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log
    C:\Windows\Inf\setupapi.dev.log

To uninstall hotfixes you have to have access to system in normal mode. You cannot apply @madnaveen suggestions in Windows 7.You cannot log to the system through Win 7 DVD,this DVD let you only have access to files, folders on hdd nothing more.
