What the Hell is up with all these Updates?

everytime I get home from work there is always an update. I mean every day. What is up with that?

They only come out once a week at most. I've not installed any in the last month and the 12 updates all have dates that are a week apart (1-3 per week). But if you don't install them it may nag at you about them daily.

Xp Pro SP3 x64, Win7 x86 (Ult 7600), Win7 x64 Ult 7600, TechNet RTM on AMD x64 (2.8Ghz)

I know they come at least once a week, but this week its been every day. Today there was one and last night and the night before. the thing is I don't know if its a requirement. But its says windows update so I figure I need it. I check out tomorrow to see if there's another one. thanks.

Are you using Microsoft Security Essentials? I believe it updates through Windows Updates.
