EXACTLY! I usually wait until I see whether or not the most recent updates affect users PC's negatively before I install any updates. Any experienced Windows user should know this from past experiences. Better safe than sorry. Especially with any Office updates.

Take this new WAT update for example. I have a legit copy of Windows 7 Ultimate x64, but I chose NOT to install it right away. Now look what happened, it was pulled from the MS Updates. Why would I want obsolete software on my PC? I don't know about you guys, but it drives me CRAZY having any software on my computer that doesn't do anything, or doesn't really need to be there. I'm glad I opted out of that update. Do I trust Microsoft downloads? Of course not, I'm old enough to know better....LOL

MadMax, I too, follow that routine with updates. I did install WAT because I was curious and wanted to dig into it.

And that's cool, I too download some updates right away. However, they are usually updates that have worked well in the past. This WAT garbage hasn't. The XP WGA was a complete joke, and caused all kinds of problems for legitimate users. So that's why I opted out. It is funny to see all these "pro WAT" users on here though, they don't come right out and say it, but they think everyone who has avoided that update is into piracy. It's just a soapbox for them to preach their self righteousness. Really, that's all it is in a nutshell, whether they admit or not.

Fortunately I've been blessed with common sense, and I don't trust Microsoft updates very much. They have reaped havoc in the past, and will continue to do so. That's why I wait to get the skinny on an update before I download. What's wrong with using your head?

I am one of the ones that had that bad experience with XP's WGA. That was part of the reason that I tried this one - to see if there was an improvement. I did image my system first! But all went well.

What would happen if you had it installed for a week then uninstalled it?

It would simply be uninstalled. It is just like uninstalling any other update. Now, if it comes out as part of SP1, that will be a different story.
