    Windows Update not working

Anyone else having trouble using Windows Update? I go to check for updates and and almost immediately it's back at the Check for Updates Screen.

Windows Update works fine on my desktop. I just installed Windows 7 on my laptop and after install, I couldnt use Windows Update from the start.

    Any ideas?

Just a quick slightly unrelated question...Why run Beta software on an underpowered laptop? Just curious. I'd never subject the lower end hardware to that kind of stress

I just did it because I fired up my laptop for the first time in months. I first bought it while I was in the Navy almost 2 years ago. It was useful to have during deployment to watch movies and what not.
I dont use it as much but it's still nice to have. I thought why not just load it with Windows 7 for the heck of it. Not a big deal if I cant get Windows Update to work. This build will be obsolete soon im sure anyhow. That and you are right, this laptop is very under powered lol

and with just two updates you arent missing out on anything...
hey i run w7 as primary os on my test laptop and it works great...
the best thing about it is that i can take it anywhere and play around with it...
i usually use this lappy and stress it out everyday all day (10 hrs constantly on...) and so far i HAVE HAD no BSOD... (unlike vista which happened once or twice.....
but then again one of w7 dev team is make it useable on a netbook.... (were talking about atom cpu with 1gb with the vista or should i say w7 kernel thats incredible....)
just hope it does end up that way since i am hoping to purchase one in the next year and half or so....

Didn't get any point, why NOT to run beta of non-server OS on laptop? Running it too on Centrino 1st gen asus, working extremely fine even with apache server and visual studio 2008sp1 debugging

Regarding Windows Update, check whether it is not disabled in Services by numerous activators/group policy or whether your firewall doesn't allow connections for windows update executable
