Download and install all "important" or "critical" updates and the optional ones are well, optional. There's no need to do them 3 or 4 at a time, you can just get them all at once, reboot, and be done with it. I suggest you if you plan not using this Trial Software, to install only at the moment all the "Critical", "Important" and everything related to the System Windows 7, not the Office one. They 're named Microsoft Office, so you can't get wrong. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number [May-Dec-2012] - New Mid-tower - (is done!) Yes when you buy a new PC they have alot of updating to do, so yea install all of them, by default it should install all of the important ones and leave out the optional ones. When I bought my laptop 2 months ago, it needed to install 33 updates, updating your PC keeps it safe. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Gateway NV5378u OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit CPU AMD Athlon II X2 M300 Motherboard Gateway SJV50TR 0100 Memory 4GB Graphics Card AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Sound Card Conexant High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Generic PnP Monitor Screen Resolution 15.6" 16:9 HD LED LCD Hard Drives Hitachi HTS545050B9A300 Disk Device 500GB |

Yes,
Install all updates. This will take some time but do it.
When you are finished and after rebooting, then
Go back to Windows Update and although you may have an indication there that you are uptodate, click on that Update button.
Let those updates install and reboot.
Keep repeating this checking for updates until the update procedure truly comes up empty-handed. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba Satellite S875D-S7239 laptop OS MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit CPU AMD A10-4600M Motherboard AMD Pumori (Socket FT1) Memory 6.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-12-28) Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD 7660G Sound Card High Definition Audio Device Monitor(s) Displays Generic PnP Monitor (1600x900@60Hz) Screen Resolution 1600x900@60Hz Keyboard Standard PS/2 Keyboard Mouse HP Wireless Optical Mobile Mouse Model FHA-3410 Hard Drives SSD 119GB Corsair CSSD-V128GB2 ATA Device Internet Speed What the local pub, local coffee shop offers.
