Not a genuine??? About four months ago i put windows 7 64 bit ultimate, that i got from my roommate, on my computer. it has worked great for months and just a few minutes ago i went to my desktop, and my background had changed to black and there is now the words "Windows 7 Build 7600 This Copy of Windows is not genuine." Why did all of a sudden that pop up? is there away to either make it genuine or a way to make the words go away? | My System Specs |

As of just a short time ago, MS began a new improved method of verification that was part of an update. If your copy is not authentic, you just got caught by technology. If it is authentic call the MS, activation number. Ok, it was implemented on 2/23... From your post I thought something had changed in the last day or so, didn't want to miss out.

If you did miss out, you missed nothing. The only benefit as far as I could see is for MS. I agree with their decision to implement the security, but if they bypassed me, I would not call to complain. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 420 OS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, clean install, upgrade disc CPU Intel Core2 processsor Q8200(2.33Ghz 1333FSB) Quad Core Tech Motherboard Dell Memory 6 gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon 256MB HD3650 Sound Card Intergrated 7.1 Channel Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell SP2009W 20" Keyboard Dell USB Keyboard Mouse Dell Premium Optical USB Cooling Fan Hard Drives 640 GB Serial ATA Hard drive Internet Speed DSL 2.85 |

You must have missed the "Press Release". MS clearly states that piracy enforcement benefits us, not them... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Grown OS Windows 7 Ultimate (64) CPU i7-2600K Motherboard Asus P8P67-M Pro Memory G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) Graphics Card ATI 5750 Sound Card On-Board Monitor(s) Displays LG W2486L Screen Resolution 1920X1080 PSU Zalman ZM770-XT 770 Watts Case Antec 180 mini Cooling Cooler Master V8 Hard Drives Intel X-25M 80 Gig SSD | Intel X-25M 160 Gig SSD | WD Black 500MB - External eSata Internet Speed 15MB - Cable Other Info Sissy OC - 4.6 @ 1.3175 24/7 | 18' Idle - 55' Load |
