    cclloyd,

If that HP machine has a vista COA sticker, then obviously it came with vista oem preinstalled. So how did it become OEM 7?
You can purchase an OEM key yourself for much cheaper than a retail key. The only downside is that as mentioned you can't migrate the key from one set of hardware to another.

    OEM
Allows Clean Install - Locks to Hardware - Must Purchase x86 or x64 - No Support - No Returns
    Upgrade
    Requires Previous Valid Key - Doesn't Lock to Hardware - x86 & x64 - 90 Days Support
    Retail Full Install
    Allows Clean Install - Doesn't Lock to Hardware - x86 / x64 - 90 Days Support

    Win 7 Home premium 32-BIT OEM DVD - $110
Win 7 Home Premium Upgrade DVD - $120
Win 7 Home Premium Retail Full Install DVD - $200

    Win 7 Professional 32-BIT OEM DVD - $150
    Win 7 Professional Upgrade DVD - $200
Win 7 Professional Retail Full Install DVD - $293

    Win 7 Ultimate 32-BIT OEM DVD - $180
    Win 7 Ultimate Upgrade DVD - $220
Win 7 Ultimate Retail Full Install DVD - $300

There are ways to do a clean install w/ a Upgrade DVD, but it's frowned upon my MS from what I understand. There are also ways to get around the one machine limit by MS, but again they're frowned upon. Actually, end users buying OEM DVDs are frowned upon. It's supposed to be an option for companies who can provide their own support.

I am sure you can find your OEM key on your system with the help of a third party software ie. Belrac adviser or SIW.
Not sure if Im just not understanding, but I know the OEM keys, I just want to know if there is a way to pretty much install it on a different computer.

As per my understanding, OEM keys/licenses are valid on the original machine installed. Hence, transferring it to another computer (though technically possible) has legal implications. Also, AFAIK only retail versions are transferable. Hope this clarifies things. :)
