Windows Activation Error (W07 Home Premium)
This is my first install of Windows 7 Home Premium. I install Windows 7 Enterprise and Ultimate the most and I have a few Windows 7 Professional install under the belt. So this is a new problem to me that I have never seen and I believe I have done everything right.
I did a clean install from DVD of Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade. The machine was running Windows XP so there is no upgrade path. I backed up all data and wiped the drive. I have installed all the other versions of Windows 7 this way without issue so I am stumped as to why I get this error. So before I call Microsoft and wait on the phone. I figured a quick post here would be a good idea.
Error: 0xC004F061: Software License Server determined that this specific product key can only be used for upgrading, not a clean install.
However this is no way to install Windows 7 on XP without a Clean Install???
This is a brand new Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade. Bought from Amazon and assuming that it is not a pirate copy.
Ideas?
