    Updates available but "up-to-date"

This is nothing earth-shaking and I guess I've got too much time on my hands to ask about it.

I've set my system to never auto-update.

I update when, where, and how I want to update.

When I go to Windows Update, then:
I will frequently see the following:

However, If I click on check for updates:

Then sometimes I'll be informed that new updates are available, for example, MSE update, just as an example.

I'd include a pic also of this but, I've already updated. The message about needed updates is in that MS orangish color.

OK, I goofed and the pics aren't where intended but I'm sure you get the picture (play on words).

    Hello Karl,

Option updates are not considered when Windows Updates checks to see if you are up to date or not since they are just an optional update.

Only Important or Critical updates will get a notice when they become available.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

The trouble here is that I've had the same thing happen with "non-optional" updates.

The next time this occurs, I'll use SnagIt to take a picture.

I couldn't believe this either, the first time it occurred and thought I'd made either a typo or misread.

True, may be a month before this occurs again but when it does, I'll post the snapshots.

Um, strange. I shall look to see what mine shows as well for the next updates.
