    Activation Issue

    Hi Guys

I got a pc that we installed win 7 home premium on. After the installation i activated the OS and everything was working fine for 2 months. Today when i booted the pc i get a black screen with a msg in the bottom left corner stating that my windows is not genuine!!!

The only way i can access the pc is in "safe mode"

Can anyone assist me with this and mayb also help with why this happened in the first place???

    Thanks

    1) Where did you purchase your copy of win7 from? Did you activate online?

Ever since MS released WAT (Kb971033), there have been many cases of genuine windows being flagged non genuine. That may be the cause in your case. The solution is to call MS.

OTOH, if your copy is non genuine, WAT may have detected it now either because that update has been downloaded recently or because WAT's signatures have been updated by MS to catch the particular activation hack your computer may be using.

You can check on the MS site ("How to tell"), whether your win7 disk is genuine or counterfeit.

    2) Download and run the MS Diagnostics tool.

    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

Click on the Copy button to copy the results to notepad and save that as a text file. Upload the file here. That may help.

    Hi Bill

It is a genuine copy that we purchased from a reseller. I just found out from my client that they installed Nod 32 AV and then the problem occured for the 1st time.

I unistalled Nod and now i can access windows normally, did the activation and now my OS is activated again.

i ran the diagnostics test and uploaded the report for you. I'm not sure what it all means though

    Hi Mithras

Could you have a word with your reseller about the issue?
If need be, ask you reseller to provide you with another copy of the OS DVD - make sure that it is a genuine copy.
You can learn more about genuine Microsoft software by going to these links:

    Hope this helps and regards

Thanks, I like looking at mgadiag reports.

There are some file mismatches there which sometimes happens on fake installs. In this case though that doesnt seem to be the case.

Just FYI, your client is using fake Office 2007, activated using a blocked volume license key.

    Hi Bill

The problem that we had was to do with NOD 32. Apparently one of the earlier versions for win 7 clashes with your genuine check and flags everything as not valid.

I also had a look into the office 2007 product and its quite strange. the package they bought did not have powerpoint on and they got someone to install powerpoint on that machine but all has been sorted out now.
