    Some settings are managed by your system administrator.


    I have Windows 7 Starter on my HP Mini 110, and I recently did a registry clean-up, and deleted a lot of unnecessary freeware off of my computer, and when I checked Windows Update, it gave me this error:
    Some settings are managed by your system administrator.

    I am not connected to a network or group. The program I have, Wise Registry Cleaner, has an automatic restore feature, so when I noticed the problem with Windows Update, I tried restoring it, and it said that the restore was a success, but I still couldn't use Windows Update. I have also tried use SFC / scannow, which scans for system files to make sure they are there, so I tried that, and when it was complete, it closed and didn't say there was a problem. I don't know what to do. Please help!!!

    I've never used Win 7 Starter soI'm not familiar with it's limited functionality, but your registry cleaner (and all others) aren't highly recommend around here.

    Can you boot to your Win7 DVD and do a repair install?

    Well, I still haven't gotten my Update fixed, but I enabled the "hidden super Admin" (as I have heard it referenced to) that is in every edition of Windows, that I can log into to do the updates, thanks for the help though.

    I would run a Repair Install then uninstall Wise Registry cleaner using Revo Uninstaller in Advanced mode to get it completely out.

    The only Registry cleaner which is recognized by the experts to be problem-free and state-of-the-art is CCleaner, both its Disk and Registry Cleanup. Follow that once per month with Auslogics Disk and Registry defraggers and your computer will be perfectly clean and ordered.

The weird thing here is I'm the administrator and the only account of my laptop! I'm trying to change some settings but to my surprise I found this I have no other accounts in my laptop (I am connected to a network though, but I don't think that's the problem), and I am the Administrator....
