Hi. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Initially I upgraded from Vista 32-bit (so had to do a clean install). I used the product key to activate with no issues, but then had problems with major slowdown, now fixed. One of the things I tried doing was a clean install in case the cause was something that I'd added to the computer since the upgrade. Now however I'm being asked to activate Windows again but I'm getting this message:
"The following failure occurred while trying to use the product key:
The Software Licensing Service determined that this specified product key can only be used for upgrading, not for clean installations."
Is there a way to fix this? Seeing as I only activated for the first time a few weeks ago and I was trying to fix a problem rather than get round the licensing agreement it seems a bit harsh.
(Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere already, searching for "activation" brought up a lot of irrelevant threads).
