Windows 7 - Updates Disabled - Really Disabled!!

Hi all....

Have just sorted an issue on a friends laptop, but noticed this while checking things out.... as this is Home Premium there is no group policy editor to try and enable updates through that, so if anyone knows the (possible) registry keys, or any other method to enable updates, I'd be really grateful....

Yup, have been through all that first, but trying anything reports that updates have been disabled by system admin, are you on a network, etc, and that GPE has been used to disable updates.... never seen it before, even moreso since the laptop has only ever been on a home network, and GPE isn't available in Home Prem, which is why I thought registry settings somewhere would be the answer - can't imagine what caused it though...

Disable your Firewall (temporarily) and try update.
(Is it Lenovo? I saw this peculiar problem with only Lenovo)
