Not genuine eh?

I recently purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium on it, then on the Windows website bought a GENUINE version of Windows 7 Ultimate, but after I installed the update KB971033, I turned on my computer and logged in. And a message popped up saying "This is NOT Genuine Windows, please purchase one online or locally". And I had to pay like $300.00 on the Windows website! Could anyone help?

strange indeed, but you can uninstall the update. there's an option in the "installed updates" window. I would recommend you to do this. From what I've seen posted around the internet, there are issues with this update including ethical ones.
