SP1 Beta build 7601 availably through windows update.

I have an open case with Microsoft right now pertaining to SP1 being installed on my machine via windows update feature. this machine is set to auto update at a certain time when updates become available. I am just unhappy that a beta was released via windows update and Microsoft telling me no I must have downloaded it and manually installed.

    Anyone else have this issue?

ITrant4u if you follow the link at the start of this thread to the Technet page for the sp1 beta download you will see 3 download links. The first two "if run" will set your windows update settings to allow sp1 beta to be downloaded and installed though windows update. You didn't happen to download and run one of those did you?

On the Technet download page linked to in the other sp1 beta thread there are two other downloads. They are small executables that when run will enable sp1 beta to be downloaded and installed via windows update. You didn't happen to download run one of those files by mistake did you?

No and that is my argument to microsoft who believes i did. I admin our client with SBS 2008 for update pushes. Nothing hits the clients unless i approve. Win7 SP1 Beta was never listed or approved. And since I had a Defender update hanging out there this morning i shutdown the machin choosing to install updates. there were two of them didn't even look and install shutdown. Came back up and noticed i had the Evaluation copy build 7601 in the bottom left hand corner. I have a Technet account and explained to Microsoft i haven't logged in with that account for a month or so.

Just glad i am the only one with Win7 at this point.

No one has access to my machine. I am the network admin for the company. which is why i am more concerned than an average user.

Hello ITrant4u, welcome to Seven Forums!

Other issues aside, I'm sure you're aware of this.

Thanks Barefoot I am aware of the uninstall. Beta's should not be pushed through W_Updates for a reason.
