Can't get my Pioneer BDR-206D to play any Blu-ray. There's not much on this & this thread is;

http://www.sevenforums.com/software/31198-blu-ray-decoder-64-bit-windows-7-a-3.html

...1.5 yr old. I think I did everything correctly but nothing plays.

I've downloaded & installed Sharks codecs for 32 & 64-bit Shark007's FREE Codec solutions - Windows 7 codecs & installed Media Player Classic x64 Edition. Also, I made WMP amd64 default. I've attached both pics, one of the players error & the other is WMP showing it's amd64.

I'm not cheap; I know there's PowerDVD & other software to purchase. I don't intend to play a lot of these to warrant a purchase.

All suggestions are appreciated. :)

A shot in the dark...

Try setting your monitor resolution to 1920X1080.

I have an Eyefinity setup and had issues with WinDVD Pro 2010. After a long chat on the phone with Tech Support, it was found out that the program would not function on a display with a resolution larger than 1920x1080 (my Eyefinity desktop is 4320x900).

So, I disabled the Eyefinity group and ran each monitor at it's native 1440x900 and WinDVD NEVER had a problem working after that. Yeah, it sucks to have to disable and re-enable the group, but that's the only way it would work.

Again, see if the program will run with your monitor set below it's native resolution.

I hope it's as simple as that.

Love it! Maybe other software companies will come-a-long with trials for their players so I'll never have to buy.

I've downloaded & installed Sharks codecs for 32 & 64-bit Shark007's FREE Codec solutions - Windows 7 codecs. :)

Set WMP back to the 32bit (default) setting in the 64bit Settings Application.
Uninstall the 64bit MPC-Homcinema that you installed.

You need to have a decryption tool such as AnyDVD loaded to deal with the encryption.
DVDFAB has a free tool called passkey-lite, try that if you do not own AnyDVD already.

Go to the Shark007 Tools page, download and install MPC-Homcinema (32bit)
The above player is pre-configured to use the installed Shark007 codecs.

Open the 32bit Settings Application and set 'Use FFDshow for WVC1 content' on the SWAP TAB
(other things are set automatically when making this selection)

Place a disk into the BD player and the newly installed MPC-HC well automatically start to play the movie. If you need to start the BD playback manually, use the players menu's, File | Open DVD... and browse to the root of the BD such as D:\

It works; thanks. :D

One question, is Passkey Lite freeware?

Another approach you can take is using MakeMKV to make an .mkv file of the main movie. Once the .mkv is on your HD there are players that will display the movie. VLC and WMP 12 will even display PGS subtitles. SPlayer will automatically search the internet for downloadable .srt subs etc..

The software players vary in hw acceleration support depending on video card and file type.

VLC will also show XSubs in divx files but the damn thing has been crashing so often lately that my main software player is now SPlayer. The video card on my W7 machine only has 128 MB dedicated ram but SPlayer will engage hw support for some HD videos.

MakeMKV is still in beta. You can use it free but you have to keep updating the product key every so often. Also it won't let you use old versions unless you purchase and use the permanent product key.
