Personally I don't like contests :( it makes some of the "not so experienced" up and coming artists feel left out and they don't participate because they feel that their stuff won't be picked over some of the more experienced members. So many don't bother to even try...
I've had many a PM where some feel this way ... bit sad really because I enjoy seeing some of the new raw talent coming through the ranks ;)

Well Nick, that puts a damper on things. I was just going to start the next contest for myself, as I stepped aside so Ch@n could go first. I'd like everyone to try, and I'd use every one, no matter who is voted number one. Are you saying you wouldn't contribute? How else would you suggest I do this? I'd love to see what everyone comes up with for me, and then have a plethora of new sigs to display :)

I'd hope everyone would contribute, even if they don't get voted number one. Surely the pros would have a more likely chance, but since they are anonymous, it could be a surprising outcome. What does everyone think? I've been seeing so many great sigs, by so many contributors, I thought it was a perfect time for a contest. A Guy

I am with A Guy. When I hosted my contest, we could see many new members unveil their brushes and come out with some great stuffs. Unfortunately some of them doesn't exist here. A contest would definitely make some new members to venture out and try their hand. Its an healthy sign.

Ya but in my opinion, sig contest are for a way to see different styles and for people to comment and see other peoples stuff. It doesn't really matter who wins. :) Just participating is fun. I mean I am not good as the graphics designers in this site but I would not mind making one in a contest to show my style.

Hiya Bill

Well you say that you would use all the contributions no matter who came 1st , so it can't really be called a contest :)
Why not do a simple signature request but maybe ask for a dozen or so. this way you could rotate them monthly and none of the entry's need to be anonymous.
Hopefully you should get a lot more peeps contributing as their designs will most proberly be showcased at some time or other.
I've had a couple of members in the past pm me asking if I could help them with some elements of their sig design for previous "contests" unfortunately I didn't feel it was right helping them as it wouldn't be a true representation of their own work and may give them a unfair advantage. Disappointingly they then gave up and didn't enter the "contest" at all, but if they had asked for help with a normal sig request then I would have assisted them with no problems. ;)

Just my 2pence worth pal :)

Why not include EVERYONE with or without GFX skills?
If we are going to do it then let's have some fun with it and invite the masses that want to give it a go.
There is NO Great or Bad design as it is in the eyes of the designer.
Have some fun with it. Even let Topper play!
