    Acronis Drive Monitor

Anyone else using or tried this this?

Its free for everyone, but for users of Acronis 2010 it intregrates into it.

So far to me, it seems to be worth having. Provided its able to give advanced warning would be nice.
I make drive images and back ups often, but still I like the idea of a bit more of a heads up on impending doom..

Only bad thing for me so far, It had some issues with my Vertex Drive showing it was dying. (20% health or so)

Apparently this is a know issue with Indilux Drives, though. and was a work around.

Anyway, thoughts? Worth running it or just a waste of time.

I used it but I have a Fujitsu drive -- and discovered that there are problems with using ADM with that brand of drive in that it produces false positives on critical errors.

Also, and it may be related to the same brand drive, it was on a laptop and kept generating temperature warnings, because unlike Hard Drive Inspector, there is no laptop version made for higher-temp drive situations. That was fixed by hand-altering the temp threshhold.

But, I got rid of it because it kept launching a service in Win7 that locked up my laptop, and ironically, caused the drive to overheat -- setting of the temp warnings, again.

Hard Drive Inspector, in contrast, does not kick of the CPU-hogging service, is already configured for laptop -- but it does cost money.
