    Try a repair install.

    Yes, the drive is empty as I reformatted it (300Gb), the backup is around 100Gb and I've been using it with incremental backups for over a year now with Windows Backup and Restore.

    No, I don't reformat every time! I only did that as it was one of the suggestions earlier in the thread.

    OK, there is obviously something bad going on. I ran setup.exe from the DVD, clicked on Install Now and got the error below.

    Sorry Richard, I got the error after I hit Install Now from the DVD setup.exe. It won't go any further.

    to do Start the Repair install you need to boot into the Disk don't run the Setup.exe

Sound no longer works

After the last update from MS, my sound no longer works. I rolled back to the last restore point, and then to the one just prior to that. Still doesn't work. I've changed no drivers in a long, long time. Suggestions?
Flash no longer works

It seems my Flash no longer works. When I go to a site that uses Flash, there is a blank screen where the Flash player is located. I am using IE8 (32 bit). When I go to download Flash from the Adobe site, I get an error that there was a GUI error. Any ideas what is happening? BTW, I assumed...

Mute no longer Works

Well I had an issue with my volume randomly turning itself down it seems to have solved itself I dunno how but i am not questioning it... now my mute on my quick launch buttons no longer functions would this be an indication of a driver issue with the quick launch or the sound device driver??
