    0x80042302 System Image Restore Failed

So Gateway put a new HD in my laptop and sent it with working Win 7 HP. If I make a new System Image Backup to the same USB HDD, it restores fine. But when I try to restore the image I WANT, with all my programs installed, etc, it fails. Both images are on the same USB drive and Restore Center can see both. The HDD is the same size. I notice after booting with Repair Disk and trying to restore the image, Diskpart shows the boot partition to be D: and the recovery hidden partition to be C:. Even after switching those with Diskpart I get the same error. I restored the Gateway image from the hidden partition for a new clean install and got the same error. I changed Drive letters with Diskpart so the active partition is C: and the same error. Can you check the Application log from the Cmd shell? After rebooting into Windows, vssadmin provides writers and providers below. Application log shows no errors. I opened the backup image folders on the USB drive and UAC granted me privileges to read the folders, but afterward, the error remains. The error is:

    "The system image restore failed:
A Volume Shadow Copy Service compont encountered an unexpected error. Check Application event log for more information.
    (0x80042302)"
