    cannot backup

    hi all!

i've been trying to take advantage of the windows7 backup feature - unfortunately to no avail. every time i let it run it would take 12+hours to reach some 20 percent only to end up telling me that it cannot proceed due to an error (not details)

can someone help me get going?

i try to backup my complete c drive.

    best,
    markus

Where are you backing up to ? & does it give you an estimate of how much (gb) you are backing up, so you know how much free space you need ?

i am trying to backup to an external hdd with 154 gb of free space. my c: drive has 86gb taken. so there should be enough space on the external drive.

There are many here that think that Macrium Reflect is a better back up than the native of Windows 7. You may want to try this, rather than try to fix a back up that many consider inferior to Macrium Reflect

Windows Backup is fine for some, but some of us do prefer Macrium Reflect. Check out a GREAT tutorial on imaging and backing up with Macrium.

There is more good news, if you choose Macrium Reflect the author of that informative tutorial, can give your personal help. I really do not know anyone more proficient with Macrium than WHS.
