    System Image Recovery

Hello folks. I have a book that says before performing a System Image Recovery I have to put in my Windows 7 disc and totally re-install Windows 7 before even beginning the Restore function mentioned in your tutorial. Is this necessary?

    Hello Templar,

That would only be if you wanted to do a system image recovery using step 1 in the tutorial below instead of using step 2 to boot to "System Recovery Options" with your Windows 7 installation disc.

    Hope this helps,

I use step 1 of Brink's tutorial when the OS is still working (because it's easier) and step 2 of Brink's tutorial when OS is totally broken. You always need to have a repair disk available for step 2.
But to reinstall windows just to follow step 1 - I wouldn't think so.
