Acronis users - Upgrade to Acronis Home 2011

Hi there
For current Acronis users the upgrade to 2011 IMO is well worth the small price (approx 25 EUR).

New USB 3.0 support, direct conversion of .tib into .vhd files (great for P2V and V2P conversions of Virtual Machines) plus all the other stuff you would expect from a robust backup package.

Also works with ESATA drives for those that have them. The previous release didn't handle these BTW.

I normally let a few upgrades of this type of software pass before upgrading myself since if a backup / restore version works on your system perfectly why change it.

I've tested this stuff and it works fine --in this case a worthwhile exercise in an upgrade. For the upgrade price IMO well worth it.

I agree Jimbo45 Acronis makes a great product, I prefer to use the Acronis true Image WD edition (free) because I own 4 WD drives ( 2 internal, 2 external ) and Acronis has perfectly backed up/re imaged/mounted my drives many times and being 1 of 3 backup solutions it's the only one that hasn't failed yet. Other 2 being WindowsImageBackup & Paragon (tried macrium and it couldn't find my externals from boot disk when restoring = Not Good)

So in conclusion if you need a fully featured backup solution as described by Jimbo45 above purchasing the upgrade would be like an investment that pays for itself the first time it's used

The only problem with the new version, that Ive found, is that it wont recognize backups made with 2010 version... I suspect that this has something to do with the meta data, but I haven't had the time to really check it out...

It's not always possible with Backup software to restore data made with Earlier releases.

However this shouldn't be a problem for most people so long as you know about this in advance

BTW this is always why I invariably wait for several releases before changing Working Backup software.
