It is 1 license, 1 PC

Q: Can I install the Acronis product that I already have on another PC or workstation?

A: You can use your existing license to install the software on another PC or workstation if the original system has been decommissioned and it is documented that it's no longer in use.

You may use a license for the Software or Service, with only one computer at a time unless the Software or Services you use are explicitly designed and marketed to operate on more than one computer at a time concurrently. The type of license you have (including such variables as whether the license permits use of Software or Service on more than one computer, whether the licenses fees are based on the number of computers, volume of data, or both, and the length of the license periods, etc.) is set forth as part of the Software or Service description available at Backup software for data backup and disaster recovery in Windows and Linux - Acronis. Should your license for the Software or Service you use be designed for only one computer at a time you may transfer your license to another computer in the event that you cease to use the computer on which the Software was originally installed. If you wish to protect multiple computers, you must obtain a separate paid license for each computer or you must obtain a multi-computer license which will be applicable to the number of computers stated in such license.

    Hi there
AFAIK there's no activation so a serial number will work on any number of PC's although you are only meant to use 1 installation per 1 pc.

However what is DEFINITELY ALLOWED is that if you create the bootable media then you can use this on as many computers as you see fit.

The only drawback is that you have to boot from the media to create your backup or restore your system / data.

    Cheers

If you can live with the functionality, you can use Free Acronis - e.g. from here: Get Acronis True Image 10 Free I don't believe there are any restrictions on the number of installs.

But honestly, I prefer Free Macrium: Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download And here is my tutorial on how to use it: Imaging with free Macrium

    Used it, failed when needed

    Bought versions 2008/09/10
I've used it and have only ever needed it once - then the program informed it could not read any of the backups (on a separate Drive) whatsoever as the file was not compatible.

File was created fresh from v09, restored with same program, same installation - I did a raw test elsewhere and found it came up with the same thing. Bought the v10 upgrade, serial number not valid (!) and it took 3 months for a reply (from abroad) for a new serial - I was so disgusted at the 'customer service' I chucked in the rubbish bin.

If that's their idea of service, I'm not using it for anything critical.

Use Macrium. It is British and free.

The serial number not valid problem was a common problem. Sadly their tech support is almost non responsive. But they have a forum and I was able to find out where to go on the Acronis site to get a new serial number.

Other than the serial number problem, I have not had any problems with Acronis and have the current version on my desktop. The one time that I used it to rebuild a corrupted disk (because of something I tried researching a problem for a client), it worked as advertised and took me about an hour. I installed the earlier version on a Laptop PC that I have, which should be legal.

I always do full disc backups, I don't use the incremental option. It can cause confusion getting the full backup plus subsequent incremental backups installed correctly, and take more time to restore.

You can use Macrium Reflect free edition on all 4 computers and it works well. You could also use Paragon Backup and Recovery free as well on all 4 PC's. The nice thing with Paragon is that it will do differential backups.

With Acronis, you are really limited to 1 computer per license. You can install the software on more computers using the same key and it will work. But that's not the spirit of the license.
