Interesting discussion. I guess everybody has their pet imaging program - and that is fine. Whatever works for you is the best.
I used Norton Ghost 14 for a couple of years on Vista. That worked well although it was a bit tricky to really understand all the settings.
Now I use free Macrium for Win7 and find that extremely user friendly. My system images are done in less than 4 minutes - what more can you ask for.

I have some problem with the differential backups. It builds up a chain and if you lose any single piece in the chain, you cannot recover. I feel a lot safer with full images and those are also a lot easier to manage.

+1 for that. Me too shuns incremental and/or differential backups and resort to full backup at all times. Call me a paranoid or whatever, I also prefer to backup and restore from the recovery disks, run from my Multiboot pendrive.( So you won't see any screenshots. :) )

All the apps are essentially the same, a few features here and there. The time the image takes to create and restore fluctuates...and the size of the image fluctuates...but if you have found something that you are happy with....by all means just stick to it. It's better to use something that you like, understand and is "reliable for you", than something which might be faster...but isn't "as intuitive for you", which lands you in a bind down the road.

I would say the same. Although I am now using Macrium, I did use Norton Ghost for a couple of years on Vista. And that worked well. And if they had not charged an additional price to upgrade to Ghost15 (which is required for Win7) I would probably still be using Ghost.
Last year I played around with Paragon and found it quite nice too. I had a full license that I won in a contest on another Forum. But it was only valid for 6 months. I guess I could try the forum give-away again. But I think I did that a while ago and had some trouble getting it validated - something with the product key that did not work.

Think I had to re-boot my computer or shut down Paragon and start it again to enter the key. GL :)

Yeah, but there was some problem with getting the key in the first place. I do not remember the datails since it was last year. Maybe Ciara would know the procedure since she has just done it.
