    Last restore point problem


    Hi
    This is a question on behalf of my father. He has a brand new laptop and it has Windows 7 on it. At the moment, daily he is having to take the laptop bac to the last restore point to gain access to the internet and once this is done every morning the laptop is fine all day. When he shuts down and the turns back on, again he has to restore it before he can gain internet access.......now I know this isn't normal but do not work with Windows 7 myself - can anyone please offer any advice. He has started to leave his laptop in sleep mode now just so he doesn't have to restore it every morning.
    Whe he spoke to Toshiba last night they suggested that one of his Windows updates was causing this to happen but I'm not so sure -- any advice would be most welcome.

    Toshibe may be right. Look into the update history here ( Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Update\View update history ) and compare before restore and after restore. Then you can tell which updates have been installed at the point that represents the "before restore" which is the later point in time. In that same window, you can uninstall those updates and see what happens.

    These updates may come right back. I would try to install them again because it may just have been a bad installation. But if they give you trouble again, uninstall them again. Then right click on them before they want to install a third time and "hide" them. Then they will not bother you any more.
