Windows 7: Regular system restore

It creates a System Image when Back up runs. I just did one about two hours ago.
I'm not sure about a Restore point but I will check.

What is made when you run Back-up is a System Image Restore point. That is how it is listed by name by Windows.

I have mine to do this once a week because it is a big file. I have plenty of room but daily is a bit much.

Now a daily Restore point would be nice but I couldn't find an option to do this.
Got to Device Manager> System> then System protection to get to window on the left in picture below.
As you can see in the window on the left when you click 1-Configure you open the window on the right with no time or date selection. Click the #2 on left you make one manually.

That's just it. A backup creates a RP. If you watch the progress of a backup, fairly early on you will see. "Creating a shadow copy". That's the RP.

I do not create a system image with my backups. I create one when I get my PC the way I want it, and that is my base restore point should I need it. My daily backup is data only, and my emails.

In System restore, the restore points created when the backup runs are called "Automatic restore point". And they are created every day when my backup runs.

So, exactly what kado897 said is right. So wouldn't that solve your problem? ie. untick the system image backup option?

Hi,
First I'm really sorry for the late reply.
Thanks for your great answers, they helped me much.

Yes, Hopalong, I checked this box, I made it again and now there are really two new restore points made by the system, without a special reason (like installations or else) I guess.

Golden, I'll give try it with the task scheduler.

Thanks

Hello 1x4, welcome to Seven Forums!

You can use the outline in this tutorial at the link below to have Restore Points automatically created whenever you start or restart the PC, also on page 3 of the tutorial I outline the method to use to have Windows Task Scheduler to create points whenever you want.

And IF you use MSSE, it will create a Restore Point each time you update, which I do daily, sometimes twice a day as it updates in the early morning and again in the early afternoon.

Windows creates sometimes restore points by its own, and I don't notice any lag or else. So if I set that everytime I log off (or log on) Windows creates a restore point, how much time does this take? Just want to know
