Restoring Factory Image in Dell Laptop

    Hi,

I have got Dell Studio 1558 Laptop. When I received my laptop, the full 480 GB was in a single drive and using device manager i splitted into 3 drives.

Now, if I use Dell Restore to factory image option should it have some effect as the original c drive when shipped is currently less.

Just want to know this as I will be using this feature.

There is a good posibility that the dell restore will put it back exactly as you received it.
But you should remember that BACKUP! your data first is the watchword.

The Dell Factory Restore may repartition the HD, make sure you backup your Data first.

Did you make the recovery disks.
    If NO,

Dell's are not shipped with the full hard drive as one partition (The "C" drive may be one partition). They also have a Recovery Partition (for reinstalling) and a Diagnostic Partition.

The Diagnostic Partition is accessed by F12 at power on.

Depending on what you have done, the original Dell recovery partion (PC Restore) may or may not work. If the Dell recovery will not work, there is no user option to recreate or repair it, your only option is a manual reinstall using discs.

The Dell Recovery is accessed at power on by CTRL/F11 for PC's delivered with XP, and F8 for Vista and Win 7 systems.
