Hi Kado,

The pebuilder download I referred to does not contain any material belonging to MS.

There is no restriction - it is only macrium files - you need to add it to your own pe media yourself.

If you have the paid macrium - there is a separate download - which includes a prebuilt pe2 ( Vista based ) media - they have to pay a license fee for that.

Macrium say that is why you can only have one copy ( if you want more - you can pay extra ).

I find that very odd. Paragon has no restirction on pe downloads with their paid products. When they update the program - they also update the pre made pe media - so you d/l it again.

Paragon has been changing all their pe media from pe2 t pe3 - so yet again , you download it.

In fact, go to your Pargon account and d/l as many as you like.

Acronis do not supply it at all.

You have to pay extra $30 for the acronis plus pack - but you still don't get the pe media.

What you get is a program is that will put acronis onto pe - you have to get it yourself.

Tha means downloading the 1,9gb WAIK from MS and effectively making it yourself on your own desktop.

I am pretty sure Acronis avoids paying the MS license fee that way.

But it's lousy for the customer.

You need to have macrium installed on XP to be able to d/l it ( strangely ).

Typically people would add it to their Bartpe discs ( that's an app. which makes a pe1 aka xp pe disc for you ).

You can put it on pe2 or pe3 boot media as well - works beautifully.
I think that's a licensing restriction made by Microsoft. You can only download it once on 7 as well.

Hi SIW2,

It's all very strange. You may remember that I ended up putting my ReflectRE into the WinRE with your guidance. It works nicely there.

The seagate diskWiz Bartpe plugin works very well.
