Is there an application that uses the backups created by Win7

Since the inbuilt System image backup tool has SO MANY limitations, is there a non MS tool that can use the Win7 generated backup (that works correctly!)?

    Features desired:
    - recovery to orig disk (like Win7 tool)
    - recovery to a different disk/partition
    - recovery of ANY win7 system image of any date (fundamental problem of Win7 tool !!)
    - etc

    Thanks!

You might want to try Acronis True Image. It will convert W7 images to Acronis image and back again. It is not free but it eliminates all the problems I have with the W7 imaging program.

It is free to try and well worth a try

    Good Luck,

I have acronis and have converted a M$ image but Acronis simply will not put it on the 'cleanly formated' partition I have designated and chosen. Tried it twice, at boot time, it did something but took only a second then went to completely invalid boot screen (showing 2 OS long ago deleted). So it seems, for my purpose Aconis is not the tool.

I am as I type this using WinImage which will read a M$ image file (a single VHD but likely ignore all other produced files) and am trying to extract it to the correct partition, is slow but maybe!

    Thanks.
