How to create system 'knowledge' of an existing backup?

I have an existing full system backup from months ago. The current Win7 system has no current 'knowledge-does not offer to use the backup image' of that backup.

Obviously, there are no sys. files telling Win7 how/what to do with it.

Win7 lost 'knowledge' of this backup due to a 'Restore Point recovery' to a prior date of the backup, apparently.

Does anyone know how to force creation of any/all needed system files to allow win7 to now know of and support normal usage of this old 'full' backup?

Or is there some way to copy the necessary system backup, that Win7 knows about, and copy/modify it to support the desired backup?

This is a full backup created and stored in folder 'WindowsImageBackup'.

    Thanks for any help.

PS: Acronis True Image's translation of this does not seem to work, so plz do not suggest this.

I'm not aware how a system restore point impacts on an image.

It needs to be in a root directory.

When you attempt to search for it via a system repair boot CD Windows won't locate it?

Try attaching the image *.vhd files under "Disk Management".

Finally, was it made with the same PC name as you're using now eg "Jones-PC"

Had similar problems with Windows images. Never solved them. I only use Windows images as a last resort backup now. The file backup doesn't work either.

I use this for my backup needs:
