    Acronis Settings

I have not been able to get Acronis to comply.

Here's what I want it to do:

Make Incremental backups throughout the week.
Every Sunday, I want it to delete all the previous Incremental & Full Backups and Create a New Full Backup.

I've been an Acronis user for years, but I am not able to get this done with Acronis 2011.

    TIA,
    Richard

Could you do that in older versions of TI?
Delete older images before creating a new one?

Never used the scheduler. Do all my backups manually from a BOOT USB stick.

    Hi rap33042,

First, set your backup to create a new full after every 6 Incrementals,

To get it to delete them: Go to the scheduler, and turn on automatic cleanup. Set it to auto cleanup old backups older than 1 day (yes, I know that sounds strange, but trust me, it won't delete them until the new full is created)

Let me know if you need more explanation.

Yes you could do it in 2010 too, but they changed the way it was done in 2011, IMO for the better, although I'm not 2011's biggest fan in general

    @severedsolo:

Is this what you have in mind?
You're right about the '1 day' setting; that makes no sense to me and I would never had tried that on my own.
And, thanks for taking the time to reply,
    Richard

    PS:
I've always thought the Acronis UI was a bit funky; from progress bars that make no sense and don't reflect the actual progress, to a non-intuitive and difficult-to-understand interface. (It is for me anyway)

I still use it though because the backups are rock-solid in my experience. It just works...

Yes that's right, that's how I have it set up and it works for me perfectly. What you will find is that it will create the new Full, and as soon as it's done, it will delete the old one and all Incrementals.

Completely agree with everything in your PS. The UI is difficult to understand and a mess, but the backups are rock solid. Ah well, can't have everything I suppose
