Windows 7: chkdsk dleted thudnerbird and firefox profiles

Use 7 and XP
chkdsk dleted thudnerbird and firefox profiles

When i started up my Windows 7 machine today it asked me to do a check disk on it, I decided to allow it as nothing I knew of could be corrupt. However afterwards I was distressed to find that my thunderbird and firefox profiles were deleted. I checked the profile in the directory and found that the files were listed as modifed at a time previous to the check disk.

I have tried running a system restore, however it never gets past "System restore is initializing".

Is there any way I can get my profiles back? especially the thunderbird one (I need those emails)

If you do not have a Backup ,, and the files were indeed corrupted,,, No. You can not get them back.

Invest in an External HDD and learn how to do regular Backups of your data.

2 groups of people exist, those who have lost data, and those who will lose data.

You can try using Recuva and see if the files are there to retrieve.

Beyond that,, if you are getting this error

You have other issues. Possible Hardware issues, or something.
Chkdsk will not initiate for no reason. I have never seen that happen.

You should test your HDD and Memory

If you still have prior shadows (restore points), Shadow Explorer can be used to retrieve them.

How to move Thunderbird/Firefox profiles to Truecrypt Drive properly?
Hello, I have been using Truecrypt for a while now. Got to thinking that my email is only protected by being hidden, probably as well as Firefox Data. Is it a good idea to move the storage locations to an encrypted disk and if so what would be a surefire way to do it safely and correctly? Thanks...

Firefox profiles suddenly deleted and browser updated after reset
Hello, After steam started acting funny I quickly rebooted the PC. Since the PC had been running for a few days lots of programs were running and I was too lazy to wait for them to shut down - so I simply reset the PC. Big mistake apparently. Firefox, v. 3.6.25 was updated to 4.01 after the...

Multiple Printer Profiles; Deleting Unneeded Profiles
It has been my practice with prior versions of Windows OS's to set up multiple printer profiles, one for drafts, one for color, etc. "The Devices and Printers" section allows me to create such profiles, but does not show them individually. When I delete them in Windows, they are not deleted in...
