restoring system image to a new SSD

    You need to delete the Logical and use disk management to recreate a Primary partition.

    Yes.



    Use these commands
    select disk #

    select partition #

    delete

    create partition primary

    exit
    You want to delete the Extended.

    Ok I did that, and was left with primary and extended partitions... Still won't install... Sorry about this. I just don't know where I'm goin wrong.

    Did you delete the Extended partition or just the Logical drive?


    Try the command like this.

    delete partition override

    I started from scratch by deleting them all and followed along with the tutorial using the command line. I have it now exactly as it says it should be. Would I better off taking it back to the xp machine and re-doing any steps?

    If you now have a single Primary partition, have a go at that.

    Sorry to butt in but I read somewhere to install on a SSD drive it has to be disk '0' Hope this info helps!
