Where are restore point files stored?

In "system restore" it tells me I have 30 GB for restore used. (I set it to 32 GB max) So i guess what I'm asking for, where are those 30 GB stored?
all the folders that I found are smaller than that.

do you have 1 drive or more? when I set mine up it wanted to put it on the other drive which of course was fine

2 HDD in RAID 1 (so it is one drive to Windows). I have 2 partitions (one for all my data, one for the system installations. That I suppose is where the restore data are. It didn't ask me at all.

1. Open the Control Panel
2. Set the view to "small icons" - you'll see all CP functions.
3. Click on Folder options - this will open a pop-up window with three tabs.
4. Click on the View tab.
5. You need to uncheck "Hide protected operating system files". It will confirm, 'cause you're being naughty .
6. Say Yes.
7. Click OK.

Now if you go to the root of any drive, e.g. "C:\" using Win Explorer, you can see there's a folder there called "System Volume Information". That's where those files are. But Windows gets really annoyed if you try to muck in there :).

It absolutely does which is why its locked. teh only way around that is to take ownership, and change the props. Not recommended.

OK, now i found it. I thought the "show hidden fiels and folders"would already take care of it.
I now can see the system volume information folder. However, access is denied and it shows as 0 kb in size. The next thing to try would take ownership but I now stop here and don't do anything with it. Doesn't seem to be worth the trouble to save me some defragging time with the risk to mess things up when too many folders are visible. If needed, I now know how to do it.

I have seen a lot of run around but this is the Top of the Line Number 1 Winner of all times! If you ccan't understand his problem, let me explain. He is going to run some kind of system cleaner-perhaps CC Cleaner or AVG PC Tune Up. He doesn't want his restore points wiped out, so he wants to add them to the "Exclude" List.
I found this because I am doing the same thing and don't want to lose my restore points either! I don't won't want to "mess with the folder", I want and he wants to protect it. I have lost all my Restore Points too many times and would like to find it to so I could add it to the "Exclude" list, so they will be there if I need them.
If you know how to find them surely you can explain it clearer than that! I can't find them either. I used the folder options and clicked "Show Hiddem Folders" but still can't find them. You guys are so far ahead of some of us that you start us out at the senior level. Some of us are still KinderGardeners! Take it easy and let us learn a little at a time.
Just tell us how to find the location so that they can be added to the EXCLUDE LIST and don't get wiped out

i want to exclude the restore point files from defragmentation (Defraggler has that option).
My reason for excluding that from defragging (and excluding my download and temp folders) is to speed up defragmentation. Those files ae in flux anyway and fast access is not needed.

In folder options, under the veiw tab check the "Show Hidden folders and Files. You must also click the nect 3 tabs to get it to show the System Volume Folder. There is no neeed to take ownership, that will lead to serious problems. Now that it is shown, open your system cleaner program and click on browse. Go the the C:\ and add it to the excluded secton. That is what just worked for me!
