In your situation, I would restore to Vista or reinstall Windows.
There may be some other way out, but we have no way of knowing what damage you have already caused.
You could try other things or keep hoping someone will solve it for you, but given your inexperience you are probably better off starting over. That's what recovery partitions are for.
You should certainly have the Windows 7 upgrade disk that the tech used to upgrade you from Vista.
I talked to a tech on "Just Answer" and he really got me to screw up the computer. The pages all look different and there are very few icons on them. After several hours he said he couldn't help me anymore. I did do a system repair with the disk, but it didn't help. I have the windows 7 disk - can I do a reinstall or something like that. It is where you don't have to wipe everything out. I know there is a clean install and then another one. I have backed up all my data. Then I would have to put all the programs back on, correct? Is this hard to do or just time consuming? Those techs aren't near as smart as you guys are. It was a free 5 day trial. I guess I am so sick of so much wrong with the computer, I have to reinstall windows. Is there someone or someplace that talks you through it in layman's terms? Thanks.
Yes you will have to reinstall all of your programs.
You should do a clean install, wiping everything out.
Installing Windows itself should not take over an hour.
Before you do anything else, get your Windows 7 disk and type into a post EVERY word it says on it so we know exactly what type of Windows disk you have.
And look this over--it's basically what you will have to do.

I looked over the website you gave me of clean install and it sounds very complicated, is it? What I have experienced in the past is things that are supposed to be on your screen that are shown on the directions, are not there and that is where I get into trouble. If you help me with this igna.... and get my computer working again, I don't know how to repay you. There has got to be something I can do for you. Thanks. That looks like an OEM copy of Windows 7. That's OK.
Before you do anything else:
Do you have the product key that came with that Windows 7 disc? It's a long bunch of numbers and alphabetical characters. I think a total of 25 characters. You cannot activate a new installation without it. It should be on the case that the disc came in.
You need to fill out your system specs more completely. They are shown through the "my system specs" at the lower left of a post. You don't have much there.
You add to it through the "User CP" button at the top of the forum page. Then look for "edit system spec".
Fill it out with as much detail as possible.
Reinstallation isn't very complex.
You don't have to do it.
You have to decide whether to stick with what you have or do go forward.
Yes I do have the product key. Where do I find the system specs on my computer again. I had them earlier, but can't find them now. My mind is fried. I don't believe this, but I was on a website and then went back to my yahoo mail, and everything is the way it is supposed to be. I went to other websites and they are ok also. What is going on here???????
ok, it went back to the messy pages and I happened to click on a tab and it went back to the right looking page. This is weird!!!
What do you think I should do about reinstalling windows now?
