How do you backup Bookmarks in Windows 7 Firefox? Thanks.

Windows Seven Forums tutorials should always be your first port of call. :)
Firefox Bookmarks - Export (Backup) and Import (Restore)
i use xmarks to backup my bookmarks patty,
it means that whenever you want to get your bookmarks from another computer you just need to sign in to the site.
also it syncs your bookmarks for you, so you always have them.
Xmarks | Bookmark Sync and Search
Firefox has its own syncing built in - not just for bookmarks but actually for the entire user profile (cookies, history etc.)
Your entire Firefox configuration, including bookmarks, is here:
C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla
You have to turn on "view hidden files" to see that folder.
Drill into that and you will find a bookmarksbackup folder and some dated files with a JSON extension. Those are the bookmarks.
If you back up that folder, you will be backing up bookmarks.
If you restore that entire Mozilla folder to a new Firefox installation, overwriting the existing Mozilla folder, you will immediately have your configuration and bookmarks restored.
I back it up periodically, just like any other piece of data.
I found the file, but it wouldn't open. I tried opeining it in Microsoft Word and I tried letting windows pick the program and nothing happened. What do I do here.
Why are you trying to open it??
Just back it up like any other file or folder--with the mouse.
I don't know, just to see what is in there I guess????
By the way, I didnt get to it the same way you said. I couldn't find where it said view hidden files, but I clicked on profiles then the only thing there was 5erqatan.default, so I clicked on that, then all the dates of bookmarks popped up. Is this what I want??
I don't have the slightest idea what 5erqatan.default is.
So I have to assume that is NOT what you want.
To view hidden files, go to Windows Explorer tools menu.
Folder options.
View tab.
Look for the "show hidden files, folders, and drives" option.
Then you will be able to navigate to that folder.
