    Kado,

Their site indicates the free version does not back up individual files and folders: Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download

Apparently it's only the whole drive, in the free version.
That's correct, if you substitute partition for drive. The points I made were why I went for the paid standard version.

No problem. You can however mount the Macrium image file by double clicking on it and extract any file you want from it.

So I downloaded Macrium free for my W7 64 bit machine. After initializing, the setup program sat idle for five minutes with the progress bar not even evident, which is to say there was a window showing progress, but there was no progress bar at all. I dont believe I've ever seen any program sit idle for 5 minutes. I went to the support page but you cant post unless you purchase their product. based on the recommendation here I thought I'd give the free version a try, to purchase an upgrade if i liked it. I think now I'll just stick with Acronis. Someone with the ability to actually communicate with the company should tell them their policies are not encouraging.

A safe strategy is to alternate. Use 2 different imaging programs (e.g. free Macrium and free Paragon) and image to 2 seperate external disks. This may sound like an overkill, but it gives you a pretty safe recovery option.
